Tyra Banks unexpectedly came out of the closet this past month... in favor of keeping gay men gay in gay porn, that is. During the January 22nd airing of the show entitled, Gay for Pay, Ms. Banks made the most definitve (some might say even generational) stance to date on the topic, with such important admonitions as, "So, then, like... uhm, I guess it gets hard for you." More monumental than the Moon Landing, Hockey's 1980 Olympic Gold Medal showdown between the former Soviet Union and the USA and the answer behind whose face really is on the Shroud of Turin, this episode puts to bed, any lingering questions we had regarding the relative importance this much maligned Gay for Pay industry has to us in our everyday lives. Awkwardly, right now, you're thinking "Well, excactly, how much RedLight? Upon further inspection, in the privacy of my own quarters (accoutrements, like towels, properly stowed), I answer you with "bigger than a bread-basket, my friend" (ba-da-bing). Case in point, while interviewing one of the supposedly "straight" actors, named "Kurt" (pictured Above), she instinctually engenders her painfully wrinkled nose upwards in a show of titilating disgust. As Katie Couric's poingnant interview of Sarah Palin truly was, Tyra is even more adept at getting her guest, Kurt, to un-apologetically describe his experiences as "...[f]or me, to make what I do sleeping with one guy a month [on film], I would have to sleep with about 20 different women." The pain. It must be just awful; in which case, I'll have what Kurt's having. To solidify our resolve to gainfully lift these poor, misplaced hunks out of poverty by purchasing their X-raterd videos, the troubled twink tearfully chronicles his journey as an exploited porn star as though forced doggy-style on the bed, the camera quickly pans right and catches an attractive, young blonde woman who passes the same un-sympathetic judgment (or disgust) that Tyra earlier expresses. Ladies and Gentleman, I implore you. This truly is America's only momentous issue in our lifetime. We all need to mount this daisy train to its inevitable whistle-stop. Now, go on and tell us your thoughts on the subject of being . See a replay of it here: TYRA BANKS: Gay for Pay

Was it a whimper or was it the anti-abortion ad heard 'round the world? The fallout from Tim Tebow's (the Florida Gator's 2007 Heisman Trophy winner) Super Bowl Halftime commercial, seemed mostly contained--only a day after CBS’ airing of it. It premiered for the first time--to much contention--during the second greatest Super Bowl ever (the best, of course, being Super Bowl XL, featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the dreaded Pittsburgh Steelers). Luckily, despite weeks of outright antagonism from both sidelines of the “to birth” or “not to birth” divide (or more specifically those supporters from Focus on the Family versus anyone carried to full-term from the Left), CBS-- the crown jewel of television--came away relatively unscathed, its ratings in tact. The 32-second spot features Tim’s mom, Pam, openly contemplating on her decision not to abort her pregnancy with Tim; at which point, she is suddenly blindsided by her son in an obvious attempt (though misplaced) to show humor and humanity on the topic. She gets up to admonish him, all the while lovingly reminding us, the audience, that abortion is murder--in the same genuine intonation and inflection that Aunt Bea had when inquiring about her pies on the windowsill. The International Planned Parenthood Federation took a stand today, releasing what it defines as a "look at the lives of young people, their needs for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, their unmet needs and their desires, in a global context that is presenting us with daunting challenges that will shape the future." The 44-page document takes a hard look at the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex of young people worldwide and does not, as many religious and conservative groups are already decrying, serve as a roadmap to sex without responsibility. The report hints that adolescents--some as young as ten--be given a "comprehensive sexuality education" by governments, aid organizations and other groups; and, that young people, ultimately, should be seen as eventual sexual beings.
The right is also taking its own stance and delivering verbiage against the document, indicating that religiously-affiliated organizations, like the Catholic Church (among others), already teach sex education to their youth and parishioners as a means to procreation and the promulgation of family values. Undoubtedly, lay-people from the right will be hell-bent (excuse both puns) on depicting the report in a way that teaches sex not as sacrosanct, but as an un-natural, physiological human need. Go figure. Both viewpoints are already rife with contention. From a fundamental perspective (ha-ha), TheRedLightLounge sees the report as just one way to help solve sexuality issues like HIV/AIDS and STDs. What are your thoughts?

Now, I know what you are thinking, but bear with me for just a moment. TheRedLightLounge.com is not a political website or blog and has no intention of being one (or do we? Hmmmm...). However, I was compelled to write a few words about something quite important to the LGBT community from last night’s speech to the American people and maybe more importantly to Congress and Washington as a whole.
Getting beyond the admonishments in the speech of the U.S Senate’s procedural purgatory. The health care debate, numerous policy proposals and giving the Supreme Court a verbal tongue lashing for their recent campaign finance ruling were important elements to be sure.
Something else, quite extraordinary came from the President’s remarks as well. For the first time in U.S history we are within striking distance of the legalization of gay and lesbian Americans to serve openly in the U.S armed forces!! That the President notably spoke of the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” gives you an idea how far we have come in our long struggle for equal rights, both on and off the battlefield. This President gets it!!
So, let us not let up on our struggle for equal rights. From Stonewall to Harvey Milk to “don’t ask, don’t tell” to the California Prop. 8 trial underway we are making steady progress on our march to full equality. Let’s get with it and make it so.

MEDIA ALERT - According to press reports, CBS is giving consideration to running an ad for a homosexual dating site during the Super Bowl, an ad that will feature two gay men brushing hands as they reach into a bowl of chips and then feverishly making out to the shock of a third man sitting nearby.
Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association (AFA), said, "It would be totally irresponsible for CBS to run this ad during a television program that is watched by more American families than any other show of the year. CBS should not put parents in the position of answering embarrassing and awkward questions from their children while they're just trying to enjoy a football game. CBS should quit dithering around and reject this ad out of hand."
